Green Day Stadium Tour

Green Day are returning to Sweden in 2022! The latest dates for the Hella Mega Tour are now on sale for a range of venues across Europe, with the American rockers set to put on an explosive show.

California Dreaming

The American rock legends were formed in 1987 and hail from California's East Bay. Over the past three decades the group have put out an enviable catalogue of music and garnered no little controversy along the way.

With a style blending punk sensibilities with anthemic rock, the band have been expertly led by lead singer and front man Billie Joe Armstrong. With close compatriots Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool, the band has been one of the most popular and influential threesomes of its generation, even inspiring a musical in recent years.

Punk roots

The band's influences were clear from the start. They were an integral part of the late 1980s punk scene emanating from California's Berkeley area, and put out various releases on independent Lookout! Records. Their compatriots leading the way in re-popularising punk in the US included fellow stars the Offspring, Sublime and Bad Religion.

Having built up a dedicated core following, the band's first major studio release "Dookie" wowed audiences and critics alike, eventually totalling more than 10 million sales in the United States alone. Follow up albums such as "Insomniac" and 1997's "Nimrod" were well received but couldn't match the heights of their mainstream debut, despite achieving double platinum status.

Definitely no idiots

However, it was the band's seventh studio release "American Idiot" which catapulted the band to far greater heights and worldwide recognition. Although it sold six million copies, far fewer than "Dookie", the album spawned a number of major singles for the band including the eponymous title track.

The band were finding mass appeal among a new generation of fans across the United States and Europe, although their newfound success was not received well in all quarters - former Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten was an outspoken critic of the band, claiming they didn't represent the punk movement as he saw it, though legions of fans would surely disagree.

Ups and downs

An album trilogy followed, cleverly entitled "Uno", "Dos" and "Tre", garnering the band modest sales but adding hugely to their repertoire of songs for their numerous live shows; Green Day tickets are always in high demand.

Despite Armstrong's subsequent entry into rehab, the band emerged strongly in 2016 with number 1 debuting release "Revolution Radio". The band released their latest studio album to date, "Father of All M*therf*ckers" in February 2020, again to critical praise. In total the band has sold an enviable 75 million records, and despite their stated punk/rock influences, they have achieved serious mainstream and critical appeal.

They have achieved five Grammy Award wins from a total of 20 nominations, including two Best Rock Album victories. Their 2017 show "American Idiot" was a Broadway smash and earned them yet another Grammy. Tickets to Green Day events of any form have proven to be wildly popular over the years, this production being no exception.

Green Day Show in Stockholm

As part of their European adventures, the group will return to Sweden for a single concert date on June 11th 2022. Green Day's Stockholm stopover will feature a huge event at the Tele2 Arena; the venue can hold up to 45,000 fans for musical events and Green Day Tele2 Arena tickets are expected to go quickly. Don't miss this opportunity to witness one of the music world's best concert performers as they support their influential thirteenth album.

Special guest attractions for this event will include the Manic Street Preachers and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, making this one night to remember!
