Elton John Farewell Tour
Pop legend Elton John is currently embarking on his mammoth tour. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road touring show commended in the Autumn of 2018 and will ultimately run into mid 2023; by the time the tour concludes the British musical giant will have played more than 300 shows across multiple continents and will have grossed several hundred million dollars in revenue.
Elton John Tickets
Elton John tickets have always been a hot commodity and the Farewell Tour is no exception; tickets to the first sixty shows in North American sold out almost instantly when they were put on general release in early 2018, and sales have been very high ever since.
The artist is one of the music world's most remarkable touring presences, having performed thousands of times for live crowds across a stellar career spanning more than five decades. The latest tour is no exception having garnered both public and critical praise and earning the English star a Billboard award for Top Rock Tour.
A legendary legacy
Elton John has been a consistent presence in both singles and album charts worldwide throughout his amazing career. It's suggested that he was the most played artist on US radio in the early 1970s, and his fame and sales only grew thanks to a huge string of pop hits in the 1980s.
His sublime back catalogue includes true musical hall of fame songs such as "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Rocket Man" and "I'm Still Standing". The artist's debut album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, remains his biggest seller of the thirty studio albums he has released, with worldwide sales topping 30 million.
In total Elton John has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and has released more than 130 singles. In 1997, his emotional, heartfelt tribute to his close friend Princess Diana - a rewording of "Candle in the Wind" - became the biggest-selling single in UK and US chart history and broke records worldwide. Ultimately the song shifted more than 33 million copies, reached number 1 in dozens of countries, and was certified "Diamond" in the United States, achieving sales equivalent to 11 platinum awards.

A spectacular showman
Elton John's trademark asset as a touring star is his willingness to not only deliver flawless performances but also to provide fans with an incredible live show. The theatricality and over the top flamboyance of his early performances, brilliantly captured in the "Rocketman" biographical movie, may have been toned down somewhat in recent times, but he remains a flawless and engaging showman. His tour set list covers material from all five decades of his career, with many of his biggest hits sure to be included.
According to Billboard, Elton John was the highest grossing touring artist of 2020, with some 800,000 people attending concerts in the early part of the year and generating over 114 million dollars this year alone. His spectacular return in 2023 is set to smash both those numbers. If you are a fan of the artist, or a fan of live music in general, this is one tour you simply can't afford to miss.
