Alicia - The World Tour
American musical great Alicia Keys is returning to Europe as part of her 'Alicia - The World Tour' series of concerts in the summer of 2022. Despite only turning forty in early 2021, Keys has already established herself as one of the world's most prominent and influential musicians thanks to her extensive catalogue and stellar live performances.
Born in January 1981 as Alicia Cook, the artist exhibited a strong love for music from an early age. Having trained in piano, Keys was composing songs before her teens and was signed by Columbia Records aged just 15. She released her first album - "Songs in A Minor" - in 2001, and was immediately catapulted to stardom thanks to the global smash hit single Fallin', which reached number 1 in the US. The album would go on to sell more than 16 million copies, making it one of the biggest debut albums on record, and garnered Keys five Grammy Award wins in 2002.
Follow-up second album, 2003's "The Diary of Alicia Keys" sold more than eight million copies, enshrining the artist among the decade's biggest sellers; it contained several huge hit singles including "If I Ain't Got You" and "Diary". The album built on her debut success and earned Keys another four Grammy wins. "Unplugged", her MTV live album of 2005, debuted at number one, and was quickly followed by her third number one studio album, 2007's "As I Am". Another seven million album sales followed, and Keys was subsequently invited to perform the theme song to James Bond smash Quantum of Solace in conjunction with Jack White.
A Decade of Dominance
In 2009, Keys released one of her most influential singles, "Empire State of Mind" which was a huge worldwide hit and earned her yet more Grammy success. More chart success followed through the 2010s as Keys release both live and studio albums and continued to tour in support of her music. By this time her live performances had become classics, with stellar performances across the globe as well as on television and live awards shows, and tickets for her shows were in high demand. By 2020 she had sold more than 90 million combined singles and albums, and earned numerous accolades and awards for her songwriting and performing. Billboard acclaimed her as the top R&B star of the 2000s and she's received praise from Time magazine for her humanitarian work with children and HIV/AIDS causes.
